Okay I`m still a bit hesitant about joining a Playgroup as I had a bad experience with a centre when I was a Nanny to a 2 year old about 10 years ago.
I`ve been thinking about taking Matthew to our local playgroup for some time but I`m very hesitant as to what to expect. I`m worried that I`ll walk in and no one will want to know us and I`ll feel like a right heel, it also doesn`t help that I`m shy until I get to know people then I come out of my shell.
Matthew will be 9 months by the time Playgroup starts up, do you think this is too young and I should wait till he`s older?
I`m also concerned that Playgroup runs from 9.30am till 11.30am, when Matthew would normally have his morning nap from 9/9.30am for 1 hour, so it would mean he`d be missing out on his nap then the next day he`s disrupted again as he comes to work with me, so that`s 2 days in a row, will it be all too much for him?
Hi Dee,
I was a bit the same with my ds I went to a local playgroup and I walked out in tears and swore I would never go back, about 2 years latter I joind the local one near my new place and I love it I am now co running it with another mum I find myself getting very excited about going along, I found that each playgroup is very different and that alot of the women get in their little clicks and thats that they dont want to talk to you but they are not all like that I know the one i am now going to is great and very friendly I think it is just a matter of giving it a go and seeing how you like it try it fo ra few weeks and if its not for you dont go anymore atleast it does not cost heaps and as far as Mathew missing his sleep I dont really know as he might be just fine but then again he might hate it but its well worth a try. good luck
Maybe give it a go, Dee. If it doesn't work out, you don't have to go back. Have you got a friend that can go with you? Sorry to hear about your rotten experience with another playgroup but it might be different this time because you're actually a Mum now? I dunno. Groups of women can be so.... cliquey!
Gabby is starting at one this week. My whole MG is going though so it's a bit easier for me because I'll know half the people there (and I'm hardly shy, LOL).
If you're feeling too hesitant about it, maybe wait until next year... go with the new baby (always an excellent talking point) and Matthew will be that bit older?
Thanks girls, I`m still tossing it all around my head, as Amy says I can give it a few gos and see what it`s like, I`ve been told I don`t have to pay for Matthew until he`s one.
hey Dee,
if you go, or have gone already (before i get there in April) let me know what its like coz as we are gunna be there for 4 years at least, unlike all the moving we've done in the past 2 yrs (stupid defence!) im hoping to be taking chloe to a playgroup to meet non defence ppl
